A JPG copy when WebP is not accepted
Convert WebP to JPG when a saved image will not open in your chosen app or an upload form asks specifically for JPEG. The picture can be perfectly valid as WebP and still be unsuitable for that particular destination.
This WebP to JPG converter makes new JPG image data from the WebP source. It is useful for photographs downloaded from the web, shared WebP images and still pictures that need a JPG version.
Keep the WebP original. If it is already optimized for a website, converting it to JPG may produce a larger file rather than a smaller one.
Convert WebP to JPG in your browser
- Choose the WebP file or batch you need to convert.
- Set JPG quality and select a background for transparent areas.
- Convert the pictures, inspect the output and download the JPG files.
No account is required. Images are processed in your browser, so leave the page open while the job runs. The tool accepts up to 30 files per batch, with a combined size of 160 MB. Each image must be within 40 MB and 24 megapixels.
Try one file first if you are unsure what your receiving app needs. After conversion, open that JPG in the actual destination before processing a whole folder.
What happens to transparent WebP areas?
WebP can contain transparency; JPG cannot. A transparent margin around a product or an illustration must become a solid color in the JPG.
Choose a color that suits the final use. White can work for a plain document, while a slide with a colored background may need a matching color. Inspect the subject's edges after converting, particularly fine lines, soft shadows and partially transparent details.
If you want to keep a transparent cutout, export a PNG instead. A JPG with a solid background cannot later recover the original transparent edge simply by changing back to PNG.
WebP to JPG is not an animation converter
Animated WebP files are not supported. Export a single still frame in another tool before using this WebP to JPG converter. A JPG cannot preserve the movement of an animated source.
Before converting, decide whether you need a representative still or the complete animation. Keep the source file for the latter. An animated sticker and a compatible still picture serve different purposes; do not replace the source animation with a static export by mistake.
Check details after a lossy conversion
Your WebP may already use lossy compression. Saving it as JPG can add another round of changes. Start with a high enough quality setting, then compare the picture at its intended display size.
Look at lettering, fine patterns, hair and edges between strong colors. JPG compression can affect these areas more noticeably than a smooth sky or a soft background. If text is the main content, a PNG output may be a better choice when the receiving application accepts it.
Do not use a larger file size as proof of better quality. A converted JPG can be larger than its WebP source while containing no additional detail.
Solve format and size requirements separately
An upload form may reject a picture because of its dimensions or file size even after the format is corrected. Check the complete requirement before you retry.
For a maximum width or height, use the image resizer. For a limit in KB or MB, use the compression tool and review its actual output size. If the site also requires a particular shape, crop a copy so you do not stretch the subject.
Renaming the WebP file to end in .jpg does not perform any of those changes. A true conversion is needed for software that reads the file contents.
WebP to JPG questions
Will converting make my WebP easier to share?
It can, when the recipient or upload form accepts JPG but not WebP. Check the destination rather than assuming every application needs the same format.
Can I keep a transparent background?
Not in JPG. Choose a solid background here, or choose PNG output if transparency is necessary.
Does this make the picture sharper?
No. WebP to JPG conversion changes the format, not the genuine detail or resolution of the source.
Can several WebP pictures use the same settings?
Yes. Batch conversion applies your chosen output settings. Inspect a few varied pictures before relying on one quality setting for every file.
Why is the JPG larger?
The formats compress differently. Content, dimensions and quality all affect size, and a well-compressed WebP may already be smaller than the JPG copy you need for compatibility.
